AVENGERS INFINITY WAR

Pretty impressive third and final trailer from Marvel Studios, who’ve somehow managed to bring together dozens of characters into a film that’s already setting records for advance ticket sales. Watching two of the most charming super heroes, Star Lord and Iron Man banter is certainly cool, but the final Lord of the Rings inspired epic battle royale is where this movie will shine. In theaters April 27, 2018.

MY NU JOINT BY DISCOTRON

Pretty much the perfect segue from stale holiday classics, a la Jingle Bell Rock.”My New Joint” by Discotron – for that crucial moment when your place gets loud, the bottom of the punch bowl appears, and that beauty you’ve been eyeing across the room yawns once or twice. Music is indeed the answer. “Ghetto Funk” is also playlist worthy.

TOUCH BY ADIDAS

This is pretty cool, Adidas’ “Touch” featuring Jean-Baptiste Chandelier flying about in beautiful locations.

THE REVENANT

Here is the official trailer for “The Revenant” starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy. The film was directed by rising star Alejandro González Iñárritu, who just won the Academy Award for Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Picture for Birdman. This is his 6th film, set to hit theaters December 25, 2015.

EVEREST

Here is the official trailer for “Everest” directed by Baltasar Kormákur, featuring an all star line-up of actors including Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, Sam Worthington and Jake Gyllenhaal. The film is based on the 1996 disaster, as described in the book “Into Thin Air” by Jon Krakauer. Despite the inevitable liberties taken by the director, it’s refreshing to see CGI applied to something more contemporary and realistic. The film hits theaters September 18, 2015.

BEYOND THE BRICK

For a kid who grew up in the 70’s & 80’s, this movie is about as good as it gets, “Beyond the Brick: A Lego Brickumentary.” Directed by Daniel Junge and Kief Davidson, narrated by Jason Bateman, in theaters July 31, 2015.

MAD MAX FURY ROAD

This movie looks exhaustingly good and worthy of the original. “Mad Max: Fury Road” hits theaters May 15, 2015.

EMILY RATAJKOWSKI CALL OF DUTY

By now everyone’s seen the “Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare” trailer featuring Kevin Spacey, here’s the latest live action spot featuring none other than Taylor Kitsch and a smoking hot Emily Ratajkowski.

GUCCI PRESENTS: MEN’S TAILORING

A well executed short film directed by Remi Paringaux for Gucci.

WHAT’S HOT: GOL! AD SPOT

One of the best commercial’s yet for the World Cup debuted last week and is getting serious traction, not because there are any expensive futbol players featured, but because it centers around crazy trick shots that are 100% real. It’s a perfectly executed idea, created by ad agency DDB. Look for Argentinian model Fiorella Castillo about halfway through as she surprises a crowd while wearing a little black dress and impossible heels.

LAST NIGHTS PARTY: GQ x RIO

GQ and star photographer Ben Watts took over Milk Studios recently for a party celebrating the World Cup. Watts’ signature style of featuring beautiful models having the time of their lives in far off destinations looks like a smoking hot travel journal – enviable getaways that happen only in print. Milk Studios sits firmly at the center of the action, led by Mazdack Rassi, a talented creative who happens to be one of the nicest guys in an industry not really known for warmth and generosity. It’s refreshing, and that energy flows into everything Milk does, the parties, the big name events, the off-Broadway BBQ’s. The line of celebrities, models and fashion insiders in attendance points to (more…)

CAMP BETTER

Check out this stunning tent just launched by Shelter Co. Supply out of San Francisco. “The Meriwether” is 16 feet in diameter and stands 9.5 feet tall at the center, large enough to comfortably sleep 4-6 adults. The tent includes stakes and poles and has a dry weight of 65 pounds with a fully attached waterproof vinyl ground sheet and water resistant canvas upper. Beyond it’s functional appeal, it just looks amazing, and will sit happily by the side of a winding river, far from civilization, or in your backyard ready for weekend soirees. $1,250, available at Shelter Supply Co.

GODZILLA CRUSHES

The huge success of “Godzilla” was never in question, just how much the movie would actually pull in was. Estimates were in the high $60 million range – but it easily destroyed expectations, hauling in $93.2 million. Part of the appeal might hinge on the fact that director Gareth Edwards was not afraid to take the movie in a darker direction than past Godzilla remakes. Taking a sci-fi movie and trending it towards the horror genre instead of a messy action movie has paid off. The opposite example, Michael Bay’s Transformer films, seem lightweight in comparison. The movie is expected to generate $240 in the U.S. and Canada.

EDGE OF TOMORROW

This looks good. “Edge of Tomorrow,” hitting theaters June 6, 2014.

“PRADASPHERE”

Two luxury powerhouses have combined forces to create “PRADASPHERE,” an exhibition debuting at Harrods in London during the month of May. It’s an interesting concept, one that takes the retail experience to the next level, somewhat of a parred down version of 2012’s Met Ball exhibit.

“The exuberant exhibition will catalog the multifaceted activities of the Italian design powerhouse – from fashion and accessories to architecture, cinema, and beyond. Concurrently, the legendary Harrods Exhibition Windows will showcase treasures from the Prada archives coupled with a capsule collection of ready-to-wear, bags, shoes and accessories inspired by iconic Prada collections from the last 100 years – developed exclusively for Harrods.” You can read the full release here.

WATER BY MORGAN MAASSEN

Stunning.

JUPITER ASCENDING

This actually looks pretty cool. Let’s hope it’s better than director Andy Wachowski’s last film, “Cloud Atlas,” that left audience asking themselves “WTF was that??” Jupiter Ascending hits theaters July 18, 2014.

GANT OCEAN ACADEMY

It would be very easy to find an actual working yacht with handsome sailors who know how to work a boat. Instead the minds behind “Ocean Academy” have cast five models with perfect hair and not a single callous to look like students of the sea. It’s asking a lot, especially if you’ve ever spent time on the water, where things get worn and rustic fast. But the imagery isn’t the main problem, it’s the (more…)

ALL TIME GREATS

“Brass Monkey” by The Beastie Boys live on Soul Train. Priceless.

“Ordinary World” by Duran Duran. This video is so 80’s it hurts. In a good way.

“Your Silent Face” by New Order. All time classic.

“True” by Spandau Ballet 1985. Remember Live Aid?

VANITY FAIR X GAME OF THRONES

Season 4 of Game of Thrones kicks off on April 6, 2014. It’s good to see the show getting so much respect, landing the April cover of Vanity Fair, which is usually reserved for a different kind of royalty. Writer Jim Windolf speaks with co-creator’s David Benioff and D. B. Weiss about the shows lifespan, and how they would like to wrap it up after seven or eight seasons. “It doesn’t just keep on going because it can,” Weiss says. “I think the desire to milk more out of it is what would eventually kill it, if we gave in to that.”
