NIKE AIR VENGEANCE

Continuing today’s obsession with Nike, this is one of their best laid-back sneakers, the Air Vengeance. For a subtle style, look for the Iguana/Black/Sable Green Color. $100.

YES, APPLE IS BUILDING A TV

YES, APPLE IS BUILDING A TV. Instead of having a pile of remotes on our coffee tables, or an absurdly complicated remote keyboard like the one Google set with Google TV, we’ll just tell Siri what you want to watch. And Siri will play it. [BUSINESSINSIDER]

JORDAN: LOVE THE GAME

Check out this great Nike spot, debuted during this past week’s Monday Night Football game. The song is “Rhythm” by Awol One & Daddy Kev.

PREVIEW: REYN SPOONER SPRING 2012

This past week Reyn Spooner held a press event in Manhattan to debut their Spring Summer 2012 collection. Reyn Spooner began way back in 1959 as a traditional men’s haberdashery in Waikiki, known then affectionately as “the Brooks Brothers of the Pacific.” Today the collection consists of bold patterns, iconic prints and killer board shorts that strike just the right balance between wear-ability and the spirit of Hawaiian surf culture. J.A. CHRISTENSEN TIES

This is what you call vintage. Designer Jim Christensen has created a small collection of ties using pre-WWII fabrics and pattern-making books from the late 1800′s as his guide. His technique is old-school: using a classic 96-80 Singer sewing machine, each tie is meticulously sewn with the selvedge exposed on the back of the tie, similar to what you might find on the bottom hem of your favorite pair of jeans. And if you want one? They’re priced at $105 and available (more…)

THE NOVEMBER COVERS

V Man with James Franco
Details with David Gandy
Esquire with Rihanna
GQ with Eminem, RIchards & Wayne
Maxim with Jessica Gomes
Men's Health with Henry Cavill
Men's Journal with Ali

For the November 2011 covers there are a few surprises: Details going old-school by featuring a male model, David Gandy, and GQ with an impressive rock and roll cover and all music issue. Others are no surprise at all: Maxim going slutty with a bikini clad girl who dragged a garden hose to the beach and Men’s Health featuring biceps and a black tee shirt again, although to be fair, it’s a slightly camouflage shirt if you look really close. Gandy is best known as the face of Dolce Gabbana’s (more…)

BROWN MAGIC: MEN’S SUITS

BROWN MAGIC: MEN’S SUITS. Tom Kalenderian, executive VP and general merchandising manager at Barneys, said that the upscale department store is now carrying 40 brands of brown designer suits for fall. “The best-selling ones are solids,” said Mr. Kalenderian. “Although it’s a smaller segment of what sells—navy, gray, black—it’s an important fashion statement, and prevalent in most brands at Barneys right now.” [WSJ]

CANADA GOOSE HYBRIDGE JACKET

Canada Goose has been killing it with their collection of jackets over the past decade, in particular their over-sized winter parka with fur lined hood. For something a bit more sleek and vintage ski inspired, try the Hybridge jacket, available in black, royal and red. Red could look kind of cool (more…)

UPGRADE YOUR HOLIDAY BAR

Here are a few items that will add a little punch to your seasonal entertaining, both from Ballard Designs, a good alternative to the drab repetition of Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn and West Elm. Consider Ballard a slightly more refined option, with items that at least appear more customized. Door handle bottle stopper with bee emblem or custom monogramming, $35-39. Pedestal champagne bowl, $99.

LUNCH WITH MICKEY DREXLER

LUNCH WITH THE FT: MICKEY DREXLER. Drexler was in London because J. Crew is in international expansion mode: in August they opened their first store in Canada and launched Canadian ecommerce; then they launched ecommerce in the UK and they are in the process of looking for a bricks and mortar space in England. STEVEN ALAN BOW TIE

Steven Alan makes some of the best ties and bow ties out there and this vintage fair isle wool version is a top seasonal pick. You could wear it with a white button down and v-neck sweater, or a heavier tweed sport jacket for full winter effect. Or, try mixing textures and balance the heavier wool of the tie with a slim and sharp navy suit. $78, available at Steven Alan.
