FURTHUR AT RED ROCKS COLORADO

I’m super jealous of a few of my buddies who are heading out to Red Rocks Colorado this weekend for two concerts by “Furthur,” a group formed in 2009 by former Grateful Dead members Bob Weir and Phil Lesh. If you haven’t been, Red Rocks is one of the most dramatic and (more…)

SOCIAL DRAWS BIG AD DOLLARS, BUT DOES IT REALLY WORK?

SOCIAL DRAWS BIG AD DOLLARS, BUT DOES IT REALLY WORK? Social media has outgrown its experimental play-money stage. With marketers sinking up to $6 billion into social campaigns this year..how do we know it’s working? [ADWEEK]

THE DOWNER JACKET BY GANT

WOW. I really love this jacket. It makes you want to drop everything and head for the hills. What makes it so good: 1) The Color: faded worn blue – you don’t get that kind of finish on a jacket unless you’ve gone through a few hard winters working a ski lift. 2) The Shape: The exact right length and width, with a hood that looks like it’s part of the actual body of the jacket and not just a flimsy add-on. 3) The Details: Patch and zipped deep pockets, draw strings and contrasting button and zipper. 4) The Price: $498, not bad for a jacket that will last a decade. Available at Gant – but I’d bet it’s gonna sell out. The faded brown version comes in a close second: (more…)

GARRETT LEIGHT SUNGLASSES

Tired of traditional aviators and wayfarers? Give the “Hampton Customs” from Garrett Leight a shot. The Venice, California based company’s philosophy: “If they say your eyes are the windows to your soul, then a great pair of glasses must be able to protect your eyes and compliment your character.” We’ll take their word for it. $275, available at Stag Austin. FOR ADVERTISERS, MORE SCREENS ARE BETTER

FOR ADVERTISING, MORE SCREENS ARE BETTER. The conventional wisdom deems that many consumers may become confused or overwhelmed when ads are aimed at them on different screens in multiple media. However, according to new research from Nielsen, which was commissioned by Google, marketers may benefit from such cross-platform exposure. [NYT]

SKEPPSHULT BICYCLES

Spotted on the streets of Stockholm, the “Promenade” from Skeppshult. It’s the steel chain guard, fenders and rack that give it an old-school 1950′s classic Chrysler look. Founded in 1911, the Swedish company is known for their beautiful, handbuilt, and expensive, bicycles, with their “V” model used as a hugely popular commuter across Europe. With the addition of successful public bike sharing programs in Minneapolis and now NYC, there may come a day when two wheels become more popular than four. For a list of U.S. dealerships: info@skeppshultbikes.com. Here’s a pic of the V: (more…)

FASHION BLOGGERS, POSTED AND REPRESENTED

FASHION BLOGGERS, POSTED AND REPRESENTED. Until recently, fashion bloggers were paid with free merchandise, if they were paid at all. But that started to change as their influence grew. FALL PROJECT WITH BANANA REPUBLIC

If you’re looking to add a few key items to your wardrobe this season, take a look at “The Fall 5,” a story I recently did in collaboration with Banana Republic. I’m very happy with how it came out and it always helps to be able to work with such an iconic American brand. The incredibly comfortable camel sweater was my favorite piece – it’s no surprise that it’s all but sold out (unless you’re an XXL.) The process started in August (more…)
